The state of Pennsylvania recruited and fielded several elite regiments during our Civil War, these became known as the famous bucktail regiments. The first of these was the 13th Pennsylvania Reserve Infantry, which morphed into the 42nd Volunteer Infantry when taken over by the federal army, The Sharps rifle carrying marksmen of the 13th were also became known as the 1st Pennsylvania Rifles. The hat features the famous Civil War Infantry hunters horn insignia in detailed puff style embroidery (the type found on professional baseball caps). And has 1st Pennsylvania Rifles embroidered on the rear hat band along with “Bucktails”. The cap is designed to be modern representation of the famous Kepi worn by most United States Army Infantry Regulars and Volunteer Militia during our Civil War, and features a bucktail embroidered on the side.
1st Pennsylvania Rifles is the 4th cap in our Americanization program, where all of the finish embroidery is done here in the United States.
